BIOSPAIN 2008 invites you to visit the Alhambra. Declared a World Heritage Site by the UNESCO, it is undoubtedly the city’s most emblematic monument and one of the most frequently visited in the whole of Spain.
The Alhambra was a Palace, citadel and fortress, residence of Sultans of the Nasrid dynasty and government officials, workers who served the court and high ranking military officers in the 13th and 14th centuries. Today it is a monument comprising 4 areas: The Palaces, the military area or Alcazaba, the city or Medina and the Generalife farmland, all amid wooded areas, gardens and orchards.
Furthermore, it also includes outstanding buildings from other periods, such as the Renaissance Palace built by Charles V, which houses the Alhambra Museum, largely containing items from the monument itself and the Fine Arts Museum.
